George Balsdon is currently in year 3 of his mechanical engineering degree, his interest in material science quickly led him to become part of the seismic design team looking at the possibility of using recycled rubber within elastomeric bearings. He looks forward to continuing his studies with an M.Eng at the University of Exeter, while further developing his own research interests.
Ed Court (MSc Structural Engineering). My research consisted of High Rise Timber Structures and how high they can potentially reach until serviceability failure. A key factor of my study was to see what the future holds for high rise timber structures and whether we can expect to see timber structures competing with the likes of the Burj Khalifa.
I'm currently in the process of moving to Australia to work as a Structural Engineer and hoping to further my studies in Timber to help increase sustainability in building design.
